Matcha Bowl - White Camellia / 抹茶碗 白椿
"ORIBE/織部" is the name of a colour that has been used since ancient times in Japan.
It refers to "a deep and beautiful dark green" like Oribe ware/織部焼.
The pattern of this flower is camellia(TSUBAKI/椿).
Camellia has long been a representative of noble flowers in the tea ceremony, and therefore, it was used to design many matcha bowls. It is a Seto ware made in Seto City, Aichi Prefecture, famous as the Six Ancient Kilns of Japan.
The shape of this matcha bowl is a half-cylindrical type, with straight sides and a flatter bottom. This shape makes whisking matcha easier as the vertical walls help keep the tea from splashing over the lip.
In addition to the coarse bottom and heavyweight, it is great for matcha lovers to stabilise the bowl on any surface.
All Pottery Matcha Bowl products are wholly handmade in Japan. Each piece is unique; slight irregularities in size, glaze, colour and texture might occur and reflect the nature of the artisan product.
Please note: A minor indentation may be visible on the base of the bowl. This mark is a natural result of the traditional firing process, where small supports are used in the kiln. It is not considered a defect, but rather a sign of handcrafted authenticity. We kindly ask you to consider this before making your purchase.
