Matcha Bowl - Rikyu / 抹茶碗 利休

Sourced from the well-known Gifu Prefecture, the origin of Mino ware which has 1,300 years of history.

The shape of this matcha bowl is a wooden bowl-shaped type. It is the most common shape. Having a gentle curve from the foot to the lip, where the side of the bowl is usually vertical, resembles the shape of a Japanese wooden bowl (miso soup bowl). The even shape of these bowls gives a great visual and physical balance and makes it very easy and enjoyable to whisk in and drink from.

The glaze is naturally crackle and combines two colours, black and olive green. The texture is smooth glaze while the bottom is coarse, so it doesn't move easily while whisking tea.

All Pottery Matcha Bowl products are wholly handmade in Japan. Each piece is unique; slight irregularities in size, glaze, colour and texture might occur and reflect the nature of the artisan product.
