Butterfly Handmade Matcha Bowl

His inspiration behind this series:

"I often recall an image from my earliest memory—perhaps it was a dream, perhaps reality—of a white butterfly quietly landing on my tiny hand as an infant in my mother's embrace. This delicate moment, when a halo of light appeared on the horizon as the butterfly landed, always floats in my mind, blurred between memory and dream.

In my teacups, you will find delicate colour bands around the petals and leaves, with gold lining enhancing their elegance. These gold accents not only highlight the shape of the teacup but also create a striking contrast with the refined white clay. The gold band, or 'fukurin,' serves to reinforce the rim of the teacup with a thin metallic ring.

The pattern of 'tobikanna' on the teacup seems to play a quiet melody. There is a word, 'Aurelian,' which I believe refers to those who love butterflies. These beloved creatures, heralds of spring's arrival, are eagerly awaited and cherished."

All matcha bowls from our artisan Yutaka Ono are wholly handmade.

There is no identical piece offering. Irregularities in size, glaze, colour and texture may occur and reflect the artisan nature of the product and should be embraced.
