Koikko / 幸一光

With over a hundred years of history, Koikko stands as a guardian of Japan’s cherished doll-making traditions. Specialising in two celebrated techniques—Edo Kimekomi Ningyo (wooden dolls inlaid with cloth) and Edo Sekku Ningyo (festival dolls)—Koikko continues to uphold the time-honoured skills that have been passed down through generations. Each doll begins as a carefully shaped wooden form, into which fine fabrics are precisely inlaid, creating intricate patterns and lifelike expressions that speak of both artistry and heritage.
