Youna Matsushita Japanese Calligraphy - Kei / 敬 - 松下夕那
"敬" – Respect, Reverence, and Honour
"敬" (Kei) embodies the virtues of respect, reverence, and honour. Deeply ingrained in Japanese culture, this character reflects an attitude of humility and admiration towards others, whether in personal relationships, social interactions, or traditional customs. It signifies a sincere appreciation for wisdom, experience, and the values that connect us.
What occasions merit its use?
A cherished symbol in Japanese calligraphy, "敬" serves as a reminder of the importance of respect in all aspects of life. It is often displayed to cultivate an atmosphere of thoughtfulness and gratitude, making it an ideal gift for mentors, teachers, or those held in high esteem. Much like "和" (Harmony) and "愛" (Love), "敬" conveys a profound cultural sentiment, reinforcing the timeless values of dignity, kindness, and mutual appreciation.
