Tsugaru Vidro Glass Sake Cup Set of 4 – The Ocean of AOMORI / 津軽びいどろ「青森の海 盃」
Inspired by the breathtaking beauty of the four seas surrounding Aomori Prefecture, this handcrafted sake cup set captures the shifting colours and moods of the ocean throughout the seasons.
Each cup is named after a different coastal area of Aomori:
- Tsugaru Strait (津軽海峡) – A vivid turquoise cup evoking the brisk, clear waters between Aomori and Hokkaido. 7.4 cm Diameter x 4.4 cm Height (50 ml)
- Pacific Ocean (太平洋) – A gentle, pale blue design that recalls the vast openness of the eastern coastline. 7.4 cm Diameter x 4.7 cm Height (85 ml)
- Sea of Japan (日本海) – A textured, deep blue form inspired by the dynamic waves of the western sea. 6.5 cm Diameter x 5.1 cm Height (75 ml)
- Mutsu Bay (陸奥湾) – A rounded, softly coloured cup reflecting the serene beauty of this inland bay. 6.5 cm Diameter x 3.8 cm Height (50 ml)
This special edition set was created in collaboration with the Change for the Blue initiative — part of the Umi to Nippon Project — to support efforts in protecting and preserving Japan’s oceans.
As the whole piece is handmade in Japan, slight irregularities in size, glaze, colour and texture might occur and reflect the nature of the artisan product.
