Tiger Chopstick Rest - 2 Options
With the idea of creating exciting pottery by hand, IHOSHIRO Kiln in Mizunami City, Gifu Prefecture, is a kiln that handmade every piece of chopstick rest and uses almost 100% solar energy to fire them.
"A little delicate work will determine the cuteness and quality, so I try to convey my feelings to the shape. And we do not use mass production or machining methods; we just make it by hand. " said the founder of this lovely kiln.
Ihoshiro means 500s if it's written in kanji. It was named with the idea of a long-lasting, sustainable company. Ihoshiro kiln installed a solar power generation facility as a solution and used almost 100% solar energy for firing.
The chopstick rest that is gently placed conveys the feeling of the season and the spirit of hospitality. Sometimes it can be a magical item on the dining table.
As the whole piece is handmade in Gifu, Japan, slight irregularities in size, glaze, colour and texture might occur and reflect the nature of the artisan product.
The chopstick rest series from Ihoshiro kiln is made using traditional ceramic techniques that highlight the natural beauty of the material. One of these special features is called '貫入' (kannyū), which might look like fine cracks on the surface. This isn’t a defect but a natural and intentional part of the ceramic, created during the cooling process. The kannyū pattern gives each piece its own unique and textured look, adding to the charm and aesthetic value that makes these chopstick rests so special.
