Tenryu Kiln Hagi Ware - Tea Cup - White / 天龍窯 面取碗
Hagi ware(萩焼) is pottery baked in the Hagi city area of Yamaguchi prefecture(山口県萩市).
It is characterized by permeation, and the colour of the ware changes after many years of use.
The water-repellent treatment does not last semi-permanently. The way to enjoy Hagi ware is that the water gradually penetrates the intrusive rock and slowly changes the look. (Intrusive rock (貫入) is a small crack caused by the difference in shrinkage between the soil and the glaze during firing)
The beauty of the changing scenery (state of the vessel) has become a highlight, and it has been loved by the tea masters as "Ichiraku, Nihagi, Sankaratsu"(一楽、二萩、三唐津).
SORAIRO is finished by applying glaze and glass glaze twice. Each one is handmade and has a refreshing colour finished with a blue glass glaze. The clean glass layer is eye-catching. The melted glass collects in the centre, and when it cools further, it penetrates and shines brilliantly.
While using the unique ceramic texture and glaze of Hagi ware, the beautiful glass layer that looks supernatant and the colour of the glass glaze are sparkling finishes, serving food gently and deliciously.
As every piece has its wholly handmade, slight irregularities in size, glaze, colour and texture might occur and reflect the nature of the artisan product.
