Sometsuke is a tableware decorative technique in which patterns are drawn in blue on a white background, and it is the classic dyeing design of Japanese tableware. 

With this bowl, instead of the white background, it is darker, making it look more old-fashioned and elegant. 

Since a long time ago in Japan, there have been many dishes in brown or tea colours, such as grilled fish, roots dishes and tea dishes. Blue colour tableware gained popularity because it is a colour that makes those dishes look nicer and more delicious. 

As every piece has its handmade feature, slight irregularities in size, glaze, colour and texture might occur and reflect the nature of the artisan product.
