Mino ware Chawanmushi Bowl With Lid - Warm Tokusa / 茶碗蒸し碗
Mino ware (美濃焼) has been made in Gifu Prefecture (岐阜県), central Japan, for over 1,300 years — one of the oldest and most prolific ceramic traditions in the country.
The yellow tokusa pattern — thin vertical rushes rendered in a soft, warm gold — is one of the more enduring motifs in Japanese tableware, and it suits chawanmushi particularly well. The lidded bowl keeps the custard warm through a slow dinner, and the compact size feels right in the hand when you're carrying it from kitchen to table. It's the kind of piece that makes a simple dish feel considered.
As every piece has its handmade feature, slight irregularities in size, glaze, colour and texture might occur and reflect the nature of the artisan product.
