Mino ware Chawanmushi Bowl With Lid - Blue Ink / 茶碗蒸し碗

Mino ware (美濃焼) has been made in Gifu Prefecture (岐阜県), central Japan, for over 1,300 years — one of the oldest and most prolific ceramic traditions in the country.

The blue ink design has a looser, more gestural quality than a traditional floral pattern — the kind of mark-making that looks almost brushed on, as though the decorator was moving quickly and confidently. It gives this chawanmushi bowl a bit more energy than its size might suggest. The fitted lid and 160ml capacity make it well-suited to a properly set dinner, whether that's a formal Japanese meal or something more relaxed.

As every piece has its handmade feature, slight irregularities in size, glaze, colour and texture might occur and reflect the nature of the artisan product.
