MARUHIRO - Aerial Garden Blue Flower Plate / マルヒロ 空中庭園 青い花

This plate is roughly 18cm in diameter and a beautiful deep blue in colour. This piece is fired with Hasami’s traditional gosu blue glaze, which creates a beautiful finish with subtle differences in hue.

The German poet Novalis’ unfinished novel Heinrich von Ofterdingen features a boy searching for a “blue flower” that he saw in his dreams. The blue flower is actually meant to represent things that do not exist in this world.

“Blue flowers” bloom in a fictitious “Aerial Garden.” It commands a powerful if ephemeral, presence that is deeply memorable at first glance. These plates create a dreamy atmosphere in any home.

As every piece has its handmade feature, slight irregularities in size, glaze, colour and texture might occur and reflect the nature of the artisan product.
