Description

Kyo Ware holds a prestigious position in the realm of Japanese ceramics and is considered one of the highest-ranking pottery traditions in Japan. Its rich history, exquisite craftsmanship, and cultural significance have earned it a prominent place among the country's renowned pottery styles.

'The Great Wave off Kanagawa (神奈川沖浪裏)', also known as 'Great Wave', is a woodblock print by Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai(葛飾北斎) of the Edo period. This spectacular print is part of his 'Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji(富嶽三十六景)' series during the 1830s, depicting Mount Fuji from different locations and in various seasons and weather conditions. 'Great Wave' has been described as 'possibly the most reproduced image in the history of all art' until now.

All Kyo, Kiyomizu Ware products are wholly handmade and handpainted. There is no identical piece offering. Irregularities in size, glaze, colour and texture may occur and reflect the artisan nature of the product and should be embraced.
