Kutani ware (九谷焼) is a traditional craft of Ishikawa prefecture (石川県) with a history of over 360 years. The beauty of nature, brilliant colour and fine calligraphy are the key features of this style of Japanese porcelain.

This owl is a celebration of pattern and colour—the five hues of Kutani layered across every surface, from the green wings to the flowered belly rendered in orange and blue. The face beams with warmth, framed by cream and peach, while the whole form feels almost festive, as if decorated for joy.
