Kutani ware (九谷焼) is a traditional craft of Ishikawa prefecture (石川県) with a history of over 360 years. The beauty of nature, brilliant colour and fine calligraphy are the key features of this style of Japanese porcelain.

This mug is generous with colour—deep blue and purple flowers bloom abundantly across the cream speckled ground, their yellow centres drawing the eye, while layered green leaves create movement and depth. The composition feels almost like a garden compressed into your hand, with each bloom given its own space and attention.
