Kutani Ware Matcha Bowl - Hungry Kingfisher / 九谷焼 抹茶椀

Kutani ware (九谷焼) is a traditional craft of Ishikawa prefecture (石川県) with a history of over 360 years. The beauty of nature, brilliant colour and fine calligraphy are the key features of this style of Japanese porcelain.

Two birds have perched on a delicate branch just above the rim, as though they're there to accompany the act of whisking. The cream-coloured glaze frames them perfectly, while the textured, charcoal base keeps everything grounded and warm.
