KAGAMI Crystal Sake Glass - Chrysanthemum / 菊花

This crystal glass is made by Satoshi Nabetani, a Master of traditional crafts in Japan. It features a chrysanthemum on a purple backdrop.

Mr Nabetani uses a thin layer of purple-coloured crystal glass placed on top of colourless, transparent crystal glass. With cutting and gravure sculpting, the lower layer of colourless, transparent crystal glass emerges, creating a vivid contrast with the coloured crystal glass layer to make for a beautiful object, portraying imagery of the "Chrysanthemum".

Simple cuts inspired by Chrysanthemums reflect light each other generating dazzle reminiscent of a kaleidoscope. Have a look from above, and you can fully appreciate the meticulously engraved chrysanthemum pattern at the bottom and a beautiful garland of cuts.
