KAGAMI Crystal Multilayer Coloured Rock Glass -Marimo / 鍋谷淳一 - 毬藻
This striking rock glass, Marimo(毬藻), is the work of Junichi Nabetani (鍋谷淳一), a certified Traditional Craftsman renowned for his mastery of Edo Kiriko. The design is based on the traditional kiku-tsunagi(菊繋ぎ) (chrysanthemum-link) pattern—an enduring motif in Japanese cut glass—enhanced with deep spherical cuts that give the surface a dimensional, almost living quality, reminiscent of the delicate aquatic moss ball that inspires its name.
Through a sophisticated kasane irome(重ね色目) layering technique, rich amber and green hues merge into one another, creating a serene and earthy palette that evokes the stillness of water and the quiet beauty of nature. The tactile surface offers a grounding experience—one that gently connects the hand to the rhythm of the natural world with each use.
Ideal for enjoying whisky, shochu, or any contemplative drink, the Marimo glass elevates a simple moment into an experience of elegance and depth. It is both a visual and sensory tribute to the beauty of traditional craftsmanship, perfect for collectors or as a refined gift imbued with Japanese artistry.
As the whole piece is handmade in Japan, irregularities in size, weight, colour and texture might occur and reflect the nature of the artisan product.
