KAGAMI Crystal Edo-Kiriko Vase - Queen of the Night / 一輪挿し
After years of product development of thin ink, it successfully produced black, a colour that was challenging to create.
In this Hana series, the crystal glasses feature beautiful white flowers in a subtle black backdrop.
To make the Hana series, Kagami artisans use a thin layer of black-coloured crystal glass placed on top of colourless, transparent crystal glass. With cutting and gravure sculpting, the lower layer of colourless, transparent crystal glass emerges, creating a vivid contrast with the coloured crystal glass layer to make for a beautiful object, portraying imagery of the "Queen of the Night."
As the whole piece is handmade in Japan, irregularities in size, weight, colour and texture might occur and reflect the nature of the artisan product.
