JINSUI Tokoname ware Yuzamashi - TOKI series - Shirohai / 人水 常滑 湯冷し

Tokoname ware (常滑焼) is one of Japan’s Six Ancient Kilns (日本六古窯), alongside Seto, Shigaraki, Echizen, Tamba and Bizen. This rich ceramic tradition is reflected in the craftsmanship of Jin-Sui Kiln (人水), a renowned Tokoname workshop dedicated to creating high-quality teapots.

Tokoname clay is prized for its durability and finely textured, dense clay body. Fired at carefully controlled temperatures, it retains fine natural pores that help absorb impurities from water and tea, contributing to a smoother, more refined taste.

In addition to its natural filtration properties, the iron content in the clay reacts with the tannins in tea, reducing bitterness and enhancing its natural sweetness. This makes Jin-Sui's Tokoname teapots a favourite among tea enthusiasts, not only for their aesthetic appeal but also for their ability to improve the flavour of tea. Crafted with precision and tradition, each teapot embodies the timeless artistry of Tokoname ware, offering a perfect balance of function and beauty.

As every piece has its handmade features, slight irregularities in size, glaze, colour, and texture might occur and reflect the nature of the artisan product.
