Japanese Kaya-fabric Kitchen Cloth, Dish Towel / かやふきん
This exquisite cleaning cloth is crafted from Kaya-net fabric, meticulously woven in Nara Prefecture, Japan's last remaining mosquito net production area, and beautifully embroidered and printed in Wakayama Prefecture.
Initially, the cloth is stiff and taut due to the glue used in the production process. However, once the glue is washed away with lukewarm or hot water, the fabric undergoes a remarkable transformation, shrinking to reveal a soft, fluffy, and supple texture.
Known for its exceptional water absorbency—1.3 times that of cotton—it dries quickly and boasts impressive durability. Perfect for use as a range cloth or kitchen cloth, this Kaya-fabric dish towel combines functionality with traditional Japanese craftsmanship.
As every piece has its handmade features, slight irregularities in size, glaze, colour, and texture might occur and reflect the nature of the artisan product.
