- modern language translation
Just yesterday
You, who were living in this world
When I realised it,
You had become a cloud
Drifting away (now you’re gone)
This beautiful line captures the sad feelings of a friend he cared for and the fleeting nature of life in this world, reflecting the melancholy emotions of the poet.
The poem continues to be widely read and enjoyed for its simple yet poignant expression of love and affection.
