INOME Heard Hand made Matcha Bowl - Moonlit White
Yutaka Ono, born in Fukuoka in 1968, is a distinguished artisan who studied sculpture at Nagoya University of Arts before focusing on ceramics. With a unique design perspective, he created the Inome teacup, incorporating the universal symbol of the heart. Ono has exhibited his works internationally and at prestigious venues in Japan, such as Ginza Mitsukoshi and Isetan Shinjuku. Beyond his exhibitions, he has also authored a manga series on tea ceremonies, and his pieces have been featured in renowned establishments like ATELIER MATCHA in Ginza.
His inspiration behind this series:
The Inome (heart) design, celebrated as a universal symbol, has been revered in Japan for centuries as a motif of protection and good fortune. Rooted in traditional Japanese architecture and religious sites, it has adorned shrines, temples, and even tea ceremony windows, symbolising enlightenment and serenity. This design, believed to have been introduced to Japan alongside Buddhism, is inspired by the heart-shaped leaves of the Bodhi tree, under which Buddha attained enlightenment. The Inome motif represents not only spiritual protection but also a connection to ancient traditions and the harmonious beauty found in nature.
Crafted by the talented artisan Yutaka Ono, this matcha bowl is more than just a tea vessel; it is a reflection of his deep appreciation for historical symbolism and spiritual meaning. Ono’s inspiration stems from the belief that the heart shape, also reminiscent of the peach and associated with fertility and happiness, can bring tranquillity and joy to its user. His dedication to incorporating these timeless elements into his ceramics results in a unique and meaningful piece. Embrace a piece of history and spiritual symbolism with this beautifully designed bowl, intended to bring peace, happiness, and a touch of elegance to your tea rituals.
