Natural sandalwood forms the heart of every blend, layered with woods, botanicals, and florals to build fragrances that are both grounded and evocative. The range is wide and thoughtfully curated — from rare agarwood and kyara to playful contemporary series inspired by ukiyo-e prints, woodland creatures, and the colours of autumn leaves — all presented in packaging as considered as the scents within. Shikikaoru — 四季薫, "fragrance of the four seasons" — is Kousaido's tribute to a thousand years of Japanese aesthetics. Four scents, each paired with a classical waka poem about the moon, move through the year from a misty spring evening to a frozen winter landscape. Twenty sticks of each rest in a black-lined paulownia box, every bundle wrapped in a band bearing its poem — a deeply considered gift, and one that rewards being burned slowly, a season at a time.

Hana-no-Gesshinkou (Lunar Heart) / Ambergris — Deep and luscious, an ambergris as soft and sweet as moonlight on a hazy spring evening.

Yoizukikou (The Sovereign Moon) / Kyara — The finest kyara, sharp, sophisticated and surprisingly refreshing, like a silver moonbeam on a summer night.

Mangetsu no Komorebi (Moonlit Canopy) / Agarwood — A profound, translucent agarwood, like clear moonlight breaking through autumn clouds.

Tsuki Wasure (Forgotten Moon) / Sandalwood — Dignified yet comforting sandalwood, like the moon keeping watch over a still, frozen landscape.
