Crafted from Tochi — Japanese horse chestnut — and finished using a traditional indigo-dyeing technique, this exquisite tray is a harmonious blend of beauty and functionality. Tochi is prized in Japanese woodworking for its fine, distinctive figure, often showing a beautiful rippled or curly grain pattern that's especially valued in fine furniture and craft pieces. Dyeing the wood with natural indigo (藍) — a traditional technique more commonly associated with textile dyeing — produces a deep, rich blue found nowhere else, while still allowing the wood's natural grain to show through the colour. The wood's natural durability makes this tray ideal for daily use while preserving its stunning appearance over time.
