Fujihira Seibun Kiln Kyo Kiyomizu Ware Matcha Bowl - Blossom Pink / 藤平正文窯
Handcrafted in the heart of Gojōzaka, Kyoto(京都五条坂) – the historic birthplace of Kyo-Kiyomizu ware(京・清水焼) – each piece in the Seibun Collection is a quiet celebration of Japan’s enduring ceramic traditions. The family kiln behind this collection has been making ceramics for over a century, with a dedication that has passed from generation to generation. Now in its fourth generation, the Fujihira Seibun kiln(藤平正文窯) continues to honour its roots while embracing the spirit of thoughtful innovation.
The name “SEIBUN” pays tribute to the founder and serves as a symbol of the kiln’s commitment to artistic integrity and craftsmanship. Since its beginnings in the early 20th century, the workshop has remained in Gojōzaka, a hillside area long regarded as the cultural and geographical centre of Kyo-Kiyomizu ware. Surrounded by other master artisans and historic kilns, this community has shaped the development of refined, small-batch ceramics deeply connected to Kyoto’s artistic identity.
Every item in the Fujihira Seibun Collection – from elegant vases and matcha bowls to flower vessels and decorative pieces – is created with careful attention to form and balance. While the techniques remain grounded in tradition, the designs reflect a quiet modernity, offering refined shapes and soft finishes that bring warmth and depth to any interior. Each piece carries the subtle marks of the maker’s hands, reminding us of the human touch behind every curve.
Whether displayed as a centrepiece or used in everyday rituals, each SEIBUN piece offers more than just functionality – it holds a sense of time, place, and personal connection. In a world of mass production, these ceramics carry the quiet rarity of something truly one of a kind – made to be cherished, not just used.
All Kyo-Kiyomizu Ware products are wholly handmade. There is no identical piece offering. Irregularities in size, glaze, colour and texture may occur and reflect the artisan nature of the product and should be embraced.
