Yosegi-zaiku, also known as parquet work, is a traditional Japanese craft that uses many different kinds of wood in combination to produce beautiful and intricate patterns by utilizing nothing but the natural beauty of each type of wood.

The grabbing area of these pair of chopsticks is made by this traditional craft. Trained artisans from Odaware, Kanagawa Prefecture.

These colours are not painted. Instead, they came from the differences in species, location, age and other aspects of the wood. The technique involves chopping wood into small pieces, polishing and implementing the minimal but adequate amount of glue between each wood, etc.

This pair gift set can play an active part in various celebration scenes, such as weddings or other ceremonies.

As the whole piece is handmade in Japan, slight irregularities in size, glaze, colour and texture might occur and reflect the nature of the artisan product.
