Fish Plate (魚皿, read as 'Toto zara' in Japanese) is another beautiful piece from Hasami Cho in Japan, a city that is famous for its ceramic products.
When you hold the box in hand, you will feel the dedication by looking at the design of the package. The piece of paper in Japanese introducing the product, the carefully carved wood lid and the elegant colour of the box are all close to perfection.
Inside the box, the fish plate is in one piece with two parts. The fish part is in the shape of flatfish. Every aspect of the fish, such as fins and tail, are vividly captured. This part is suitable for using sauces or small sides. Another incredible design feature is that the fishtail is a chopstick rest. The shape of the plain plate part is closer to a square. The ratio is the size is so pleasing to the eyes.
As every piece has its handmade feature, slight irregularities in size, glaze, colour and texture might occur and reflect the nature of the artisan product.
