Sourced from the well-known Gifu Prefecture(岐阜県), Japan, the origin of Mino ware which has 1,300 years of history.
A very popular chawan (matcha bowl)! Last time, it was sold out in our retail store before we had time to put it onto our website. The artisan in Japan finally made our order so it can be available to you!
The shape of this matcha bowl is a waisted type, one of the most ergonomic and comfortable shapes to hold. The groove part is the place to put fingers when whisking matcha or holding it while drinking with both hands.
In addition to the coarse bottom and heavyweight, it is great for matcha lovers to stabilise the bowl on any surface.
On the other hand, it is worthy to add to the collection for matcha lovers because of the beauty of the natural glaze on top of the handmade chawan(茶碗).
As the whole piece is handmade in Gifu, Japan, slight irregularities in size, glaze, colour and texture might occur and reflect the nature of the artisan product.
