Chopsticks are shaped pairs of equal-length sticks used as kitchen and utensils in most East Asia.
Compared with other East Asian countries, Japanese chopsticks are tapered along their length, smoothly from the hexagonal handle to the tip. Because the Japanese have many fish cuisines since ancient times, they made the tips very small and rounded over to easily remove the tiny bones from the fish.
This set of chopsticks came from the "with your hands" collection, which focuses on the comfort of the user's hands when hold utensils. They are not simple wood chopsticks; artisans from "with your hands" have elevated the quality, design and techniques into an art of themselves, integrating the traditional but minimalist lacquer finishes.
They also come with a chopstick rest made in Hasami Cho, the city of ceramics in Japan.
The Japanese artisans did create not only this set of chopsticks but also crafted the wooden gift box. It is like a vintage wooden pencil case. Imagine the time when the person you care opening the box when you gifted this lovely gift.
