Seto ware has a tradition of over 1,000 years. Seto ware was the only earthenware in Japan that used glazes during medieval times.
Throughout its history, potters have applied diverse decoration techniques, ranging from painting with pigments to engraving and pasting clay on the surface of the ceramic bodies, deforming body shapes, and glazing in various ways. Combinations of multiple techniques can further add complex features to ceramic products.
These flower assort plate was made by high techniques and created a three-dimensional look. They give a scene where a single flower blooms on the table.
The small plates have a diameter of 7.5 cm, which is a beam plate or chopstick rest.
As every piece has its handmade feature, slight irregularities in size, glaze, colour and texture might occur and reflect the nature of the artisan product.
